I live and work near Swindon, U.K, am married with four children and even more animals (from hamsters to horses). Brought up on a farm with lots of animals about (particularly horses), its not surprising that I have been drawn to many animal studies and am keenly interested in ecology and the conservation of endangered species. This is reflected in the animal portrait sculptures, which are psychological interpretations of individual character rather than renderings of the essence of Elephant or Snake. Compare the portraits of Sounda and Djoum.
Other animal sculptures are less concerned with the psyche than the way in which animals interact with one another and the natural world. See the paired Canadian Timber Wolves, Python and Monitor Lizard and Elephants. In the Heron’s head image you get a fish eye’s view of the heron’s dagger of a beak and knife-edge feathering.
My interest in ecology and our place in the natural world is expressed in sculptures like Gaia I, Gaia II, Acorn, Dancing Girl and Plant Torso. The style of composition remains organic but becomes freer. Animal, plant and human forms are found combined in the same work.

Recent pieces explore the relationship between the inner world of spirit and the outer visible material world, through which our thoughts and feelings find expression. Shell And Amphora is an example of this. The shell and amphora are containers or vessels with musical associations: part of the shell opens out into a trumpet- bell and the handle of the amphora expands into the stringed area of an harp. Incised translucent shapes progress like musical notes on a score along the inner surfaces of these vessels. The notes’ shapes alter according to the changing forms of the containers.
The inner and outer theme is tackled in different way in Credo. You are invited to approach the sculpture from the inside as well as the outside. It needs to be enlarged so that the viewer can stand inside as the figure does in the maquette.
As can be seen from the texts to each image I work in a variety of materials. There are some pieces on view available for sale. I also work to commission.
